When building your online marketing platform, don’t forget the main ingredient, a website.
Your website is a very important part of your social marketing platform. This is your home base, the foundation of who you are and what your business is all about. Every company needs a website no matter what they sell. This is your chance to tell your story and set you apart from your competition. People want to know who you are and what you’re all about. This is where you can tell them how you can serve them and solve their problem.
Here are a couple of examples of what you’d want to post on your website:
Restauranteur:
- Location photos
- Address
- Map
- Hours
- Phone number
- Contact form to take orders or schedule catering
- Photos and bios of you and your staff
- Photos of your food
- Printable menu
- Blog
- Link to social media channels
Boutique owner:
- Location photos
- Address
- Map
- Hours
- Phone number
- Contact form
- Photos and bios of you and your staff
- Photos of types of items you sell
- Blog; to share your experiences of buying, selling, styling, people you meet and etc.
- Link to social media channels
Social media is very helpful and an important part of your social platform for engagement and presence. Where a website is basically pushing out information to the public, social media allows you to engage and interact with people.
But, the problem with using only social media is that some of your customers or potential customers may not be a part of that particular platform/channel; you’re basically leaving out a large part of your audience. Which translates into missing out on income and expanding your business. You can learn more about ‘The ‘Why’ of Social Marketing!’ here.
It’s important to not get overwhelmed in developing and maintaining a social marketing plan. It’s ok to use a professional; you don’t have time to learn everything there is to know. It’s ok to be better at your true passion than maybe, let’s say…building a website, building a social media platform, or trying to decide when to use email marketing or a survey.
